In many fourth day communities (including several Tres Dias communities), there is a “pay it forward” process; participants on a particular weekend don’t pay a fee to attend. At the end of the weekend (and with follow up shortly thereafter), they are invited to pay what they are able so the next group of weekend participants can benefit from the weekend as they have been so richly blessed. Our goal is to have 100% participation from Pescadores attending #41 at whatever level they are able to donate.

Imagine having the very real obstacle of finances removed for sponsors, churches, and participants!

ALTD has launched a “Pay it Forward” campaign this fall with the goal of having Weekend #41 in the fall of 2019 completely paid for, for up to 30 men and 30 women. At the normal fee of $200 per person we would require $12,000 in our treasury. This is not an impossible feat. We already have over $6,500 donated as a matching challenge from members of our community, and we have applied to the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois for a $3,000 grant. We believe we can raise the remaining $5,600 from our community of more than 1,200 Pescadores.

A new giving system on the ALTD website is very easy to use – we have some ALTD members already donating $5 a month in this manner towards the “pay it forward” campaign - $5 a month is a grand latte at your favorite coffee house. There are 10 months before the fall 2019 weekend – for $15 a month you could completely fund a candidate to attend the weekend at no charge. You can also text to give - text ALTD to 1-206-859-9405 to donate and set up your giving account.

We are excited to embark on this journey with our community, to make it possible to attend Weekend #41 as our guest, and the challenge for our new Pescadores to “Pay it Forward” for Weekend #42.

We are excited to announce our Rector and Rectora for our next weekend. We pray the Lord's blessings over David May (Rector) and Ashley Stewart (Head Cha) and Marlene Remer (Rectora) and her head cha as they walk in obedience to the way that God directs them for Weekend #37. Thank you for saying yes to the calling God has placed on your lives for the next seven months!

The men's weekend will be held October 26-29, 2017.

The women's weekend is scheduled for November 2-5, 2017.

One of the outcomes hoped for after attending a Tres Dias weekend is engagement in worthwhile Christian endeavors. Sometimes that’s making a deeper commitment to your church, engaging in Christian mission service, and serving Jesus wherever He leads.

A Cursillo-based weekend held in and outside of prison is a jail ministry called Kairos. If you’ve attended a Tres Dias weekend as a participant, you are qualified to serve on team for a Kairos weekend.

We received the following formal request for ALTD women to pray about and consider serving in Kairos Outside, Wisconsin Chapter:

“The Christian servants/volunteers of Kairos Prison Ministry have been called by God to share the love and forgiveness of Christ to incarcerated men and women. During a 3½-day Weekend program of talks, meditations, music, listening and loving, a Christian community will start to form. The servants/volunteers are blessed to be a blessing to the Participants.

Kairos Outside provides a safe weekend for women whose lives have been impacted by incarceration. Kairos Outside encourages and supports its Guests through the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.  We really need someone to train and be a leader of a 2019 weekend.

The Kairos Chapter of Wisconsin needs advisers from the Tres Dias community to advise and assist us.

Our next weekend is this year May 5th - 7th.

The team meetings are 3/4/17. 3/18/17. 4/8/17, 4/22/17

The 2018 weekend will be in October.

The 2019 weekend will be set with the help of an Observing leader #2.

It's official - our first team of husband and wife rector and rectora for the same weekend!!

Kara Anderson has accepted the post of rectora for ALTD Women's Weekend #36 coming March 30-April 2, 2017 (head cha Donna Arjes).

Kara's husband Mike will be rector for the men's weekend on Mar 23-26th (head cha David May).

They were anointed, prayed over, and called to action at the clausura for Women's Weekend 35.

For those of you who missed the annual picnic, you missed a wonderful outdoor concert underneath the shade of 100 year old oak trees at Faith Lutheran in South Beloit. Thanks Faith Lutheran!

In addition to three new secretariat members, we approved one temporary replacement. Since Krista Bensheimer is stepping into a head cha position, she will be taking a leave of absence from secretariat until the weekend concludes. Anita Rogers will be covering the Communications Chair responsibilities. Thanks, Anita! 

Secretariat is doing a material drive for items to support our Spring Weekend #34. We are doing this because ALTD does not currently have many fundraisers and we need your help in offsetting some of the costs for the weekend. The team fees only cover the rooms and the meals.

There are some items that you can buy and bring to the weekend or for which you can arrange delivery with Bob or Kathy McGregor, at 414-422-9254, [email protected] Other items have been purchased in bulk and monetary donations to the ALTD general fund will be used to offset the costs.

Weekend #34 is coming together!

It sure would  be great to have a full roster of 30 candidates/pilgrims for each, with applications finalized and fees paid a couple weeks in advance. This information will enable you to give LOTS of advance notice to the people you wish to sponsor!

Be praying about who God puts on your heart, and be bold in inviting / encouraging them to attend a weekend. Direct them to the website to view our ALTD informational video on the Sponsor page. God changes hearts on a Tres Dias weekend, but that can only happen if we - as community - INVITE and sponsor.
